The U.S. Poker Open is currently underway. It is a series of 12 events held between June 3 and June 14 at the Aria Resorts & Casino, situated in Las Vegas. Former WSOP Main Event Champion Joe McKeehen and 2019 Poker Masters Champion Sam Soverel are some of the high roller players who participated in the event and won.
Jake Daniel is a Texas-based poker pro player that claimed the first U.S. Poker Open title in a record-breaking field of 95 players. The first-day event required a buy-in of $10,000 for the no-limit hold ’em tournament held at the PokerGO studio. After two days of play, Jake scooped the win of $218,500 from a prize pool of $950,000.
This was the third major win for Jake, with the first being the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic. Jake’s win wasn’t easy. He had to beat Dan Shak, who had the most chips. Jake was also facing Barry Hutter and Sergi Reixach, who are high roller players, 2018 USPO winner Stephen Chidwick, and Steve Zolotow, all of who made it to the final table.
How Event No. 2 of the 2021 U.S. Poker Open Went Down
The second event of the 2021 USPO also saw world-known poker players. The event needed a $10,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha tournament. It saw 65 players join in, attracting a prize pool of $650,000.
Like Jake, Sam’s win was not easy. He faced players who started the match with more stacks and other high roller players. The 2019 Poker Masters champion started by increasing his chips during the money bubble, allowing him to enter the final table with more chips (more specifically, 45 percent of all chips).
His lead became clear after sam eliminated Maxx Coleman in fifth place and Dylan Weisman in fourth shortly after. Jordan Cristo’s goal was to take the title. However, with sam’s chip advantage of 2:1, Jordan came out short, taking the second position.
The Floridian native won the title and pocketed $175,500. He also got 176 PokerGO Tour points, which puts him fifth on the high-roller leaderboard. This was the seventh final table sam reached and the second win he scooped this year.
Event No. 3 of the 2021 U.S. Poker Open
Event no. 3 took place on Sunday 6th. It featured players such as Ray Qartomy, who scooped second place, Ali Imsirovic (3rd), Steve Zolotow (4th), and Jake Schindler (5th).
The first place position went to Joe McKeehan, earning $200,000. Joe is a Philadelphia native and one of the most accomplished WSOP winners. Sunday’s event saw 77 players buy-in to the $10,000 no-limit hold ’em match.
Joe’s recent win is just a fraction of what he has earned in his poker career. In 2015, Joe won $7,683,346 from the World Series of Poker Main Event. He also won his third bracelet at the 2020 WSOP Online series.
Joe returned to play live poker this year by participating in the $5,000 buy-in WPT Venetian main event for $491,960 and coming up second. He also won the $10,000 Wynn Spring Classic for $224,100. June 6 win gave this Philadelphian 420 Card Player Player of the Year Points, which puts him in the fifth position in the standings.
