Anthony Spinella Earns First Ever WSOP Online Bracelet

wsopThe 2015 World Series of Poker is coming to an end with the Main Event having started yesterday and many additional events concluding over the weekend. One of the most anticipated events of the series was the first ever opportunity to earn a gold bracelet in Nevada while online. Event #64 featured a No Limit Hold’em event online, for players to enjoy a new event during the WSOP.

The online event had a field of 905 competitors paying the $1,000 to try and be the very first poker player to earn an online poker bracelet during the WSOP. In the end, it was poker pro Anthony Spinella who earned the first place win, taking home a prize of just over $197,000 and the first ever online WSOP bracelet. This was the fourth time the pro cashed out in the 2015 WSOP.

The tournament took place online until the final table was configured, with only six players remaining. The players who made the final round earned a day off and then came to the Rio to play live to see who would earn the win. Final table play would take only 3 hours before Spinella would claim the victory, becoming the first to win a WSOP online event of the popular poker series.

On the final hand of the event, Spinella shoved all in on the button and was called by heads-up competitor Hunter Cichy. Spinella held J-7 while Cichy was holding Q-4 suited. The flop fell 7-A-A which gave Spinella two pair and the lead. A King on the turn was no help to Cichy and the 9 on the river gave Spinella the win, sending Cichy home in 2nd place.

Final Results:

First Anthony Spinella $197,743
Second Hunter Cichy $116,006
Third Craig Varnell $73,079
Fourth Andrew Rose $55,884
Fifth David Tuthill $47,286
