An Official Call by The Hellenic Gaming Commission
The Hellenic Gaming Commission issued an official call for tenders that has been published as a part of the Official Journal of the EU. The operator that manages to win the bidding process will get a 30-year concession to manage and operate the Hellinikon mega-resort and its casino. The project is estimated to be worth €8 billion.
The final date which is determined for submitting applications is April 22, 2019, at 11 am local time (GMT+2). All interested casino operators who are hoping to obtain the license and start working on the project would have to apply by that time in order to be taken into account by the Hellenic Gaming Commission. In other words, they have almost two months to prepare their offer and submit it before the process closes
On the other hand, the commission still hasn’t revealed when the winning applicant would be announced. They only stated that they will decide who the winner was by the best price-quality ration and the offer that was “most economically advantageous.”
The terms of the 30-year concession oblige the casino operator to develop a resort that will also contain a gaming floor along with an accommodation facility, conference center, and numerous other facilities related to leisure.
The only operators that would be taken into account by the Hellenic Gaming Commission are those which have at least one casino and no fewer than 500 slot games and 100 gaming tables. Furthermore, they must have at least one hotel with five stars and at least one exhibition and conference center.
