Even though there’s a lack of live poker events, some poker rooms managed to pull it off, including the one located at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, which hosted the annual charity festival known as “Pinktober.” The tournament attracted plenty of players, and more than $650,000 was distributed as prize money.
Moreover, $1 was taken from every entry and awarded to charity, with that percentage going to the American Cancer Society. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is the main reason why Pinktober took place.
There was a total of 3,315 entries contributing to the charity. However, Tampa aims to raise more than $50,000 during October to donate to cancer-related charities.
President of Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, Steve Bonner, stated in a press release that they were “truly honored to once again provide support to those in need.” He added that the team was proud to work with the American Cancer Society during Pinktober.
Moreover, he encouraged guests of the casino to support the cause and spread the “message of strength, hope, and awareness” for everyone who was affected by the disease.
Event #2: $400 Buy-in NLH (Re-Entry)
One of the biggest tournaments that were part of Pinktober was Event #2: $400 Buy-in NLH (Re-Entry). It attracted a total of 854 entries. The entrants were then divided into four starting flights, with the final prize pool of $281,820. In the end, a player named David Sweeley managed to win the biggest prize, winning a total of $51,698. His final opponent was Ricardo Alves De Lima Tavares from Brazil, who managed to win $36,251.
Event #3 $200: Buy-in NLH (Re-Entry)
The second-biggest competition at the festival was Event #3 $200: Buy-in NLH (Re-Entry). Players had 11 chances to test their poker skills and luck, resulting in 1,786 entries and a prize pool of $283,974. This was the largest event to take place in the poker room after the COVID-19 shutdown.
Some of the players who took part were popular WSOP competitors, such as Jeff Trudeau Jr., Josias Santos, and Ricardo Eyzaguirre. After Carlos Guerrero from Orlando, Flo., was eliminated in fourth place, the last three players decided to make a deal.
Robert Aleman ended third, winning $33,920, whereas Burl McCranes and Nir Sharon split the identical amount of money, which is $33,921. However, Nir Sharon was the one to celebrate the victory in the end.
Other Results
Event #1: $180 Buy-in NLH (Re-Entry) came with $50,000 in guarantees, and Joel Wadsworth was the one to land the biggest prize after topping the field, which was made up of 476 entries. He won a total of $9,138.
Event #4: $200 Buy-in NLH (Re-Entry) saw Brian Barros Vazquez winning $7,682. The event attracted a total of 199 entries.
