Bally’s Chicago recently announced that its Medina Temple temporary casino has over 600 job positions. The gaming company plans to launch the casino in July 2023 after the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) approves it.
Its website has a broad array of opportunities, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
The Gaming License
Ameet Patel, Bally’s Chicago’s Regional General Manager, said they are excited to declare that they have posted all the necessary job positions that the Medinah Temple gaming property requires to operate.
They are hoping to kick off its operations next month or in July. Yet, it is uncertain whether the gaming operator will achieve its goal as it hasn’t yet received the temporary casino license.
The Medinah Temple property is part of the project that Bally’s won in 2022 to develop a $1.74 billion casino in the River West, Chicago region. It got all essential approvals to develop the entertainment complex constituting a 3,000-seat event space, an exhibition hall, 4,000 gaming positions, and a 500 room-hotel.
Is Bally’s Planning to Launch Another Project Soon?
Chicago Tribune reported that Bally’s began upgrading the River West site in February to launch a permanent brick-and-mortar casino in 2026. Still, the gaming operator has been redeveloping Medinah Temple in the River North region to use it as a temporary gaming site before it completes the River West venue.
Still, the casino’s Medinah Temple property will have over 700 job positions. It will provide players with a well-stocked bar, three restaurants, table games, and slots for three years.
The Gaming Board reportedly approved Bally’s supplier license application for a temporary gaming site in February. The operator can begin the two developments simultaneously after getting regulatory approvals for the River North temporary casino and River West permanent casino. But, it has to prove its suitability before the Board grants it a gaming license to launch and run a temporary casino.
Chicago Tribune reports that Bally’s Chicago will meet with the Gaming Board on June 15. The gaming firm is likely to add it to its resolution agenda.
Still, its failure to add the Medinah Temple gaming license to the meeting’s agenda is likely to delay the temporary casino’s launch beyond July. One of Bally’s spokespersons stated that the Gaming Board will decide on a timeline and schedule as the company continues preparing to launch the gaming operations.
Non-Gaming and Gaming Positions Are Essential
Reports show that Bally’s is employing workers from Chicago and all its neighborhoods. Its website has listed 61 job descriptions with extra training.
They exclude convicted felons under the state’s law. But, proposed legislation might change it for certain non-gaming job vacancies.
Each applicant should have a gaming license and have attained 21 years of experience. The Illinois Senate backed a law in March that offers felons an opportunity to seek non-gaming jobs after narrating their crime circumstances and submitting their rehabilitation evidence.
The House of Representatives considered Senate Bill 1462 and referred it to the Rules Committee in April.
