Week 16 Tough Week for Public Bettors

FootballSportsBettingPublic bettors experienced another tough week as overs failed to come in and one huge moneyline favorite lost outright.  4Flush analyzes weekly data provided by Pregame.com’s Sportsbook Spy in an attempt to steer players away from wagers that are heavily backed by the public.  The Week 16 column may be found here.

The public went 3-2 on its point spread wagers.  The losses were related to moneylines and over bets.

Detroit was a -480 favorite over the New York Giants, with 94 percent of the action on the Lions.  This proved devastating after Detroit’s overtime loss.  Jacksonville, Chicago, Oakland and Miami all failed to win outright.  The public’s loss based on winning $100 on favorites and placing the same amount on underdogs was $715, hardly offsetting the $80 point spread win.

There were 9 over wagers that saw 70 percent or more action on Week 16 action.  The top three lost, excluding Monday night’s action.  The eight games that have been decided went 3-5 as a whole.

The public wagers lost a combined 8.85 units based on $100 increments with the San Francisco moneyline and over still pending.

The 4Flush NFL expert went 2-1 on his picks, including a horrifying loss on Oakland, a game sports bettors will remember for years to come.

The Monday Night game is now posted as San Francisco -14.5 with a total of 46.

Week 17 will be interesting with numerous games having the potential of affecting the playoffs.  Make sure to stay tuned to 4Flush for the best bets of Week 17.
