$100 Bills Removed from World Series of Poker Cash Game Play

wsopWith only a few weeks left before the 2015 World Series of Poker is set to begin, officials of the popular poker series have made an announcement in regards to cash game play. Making the announcement via Twitter, the WSOP will no longer allow $100 bills to be used at the cash gaming tables. Caesars will be joining other casino properties in Nevada by removing the option from game play.

On the official WSOP Twitter feed, Jack Effel, the Tournament Director of the series, stated that the change was to be made and provided additional information that can be read here. Effel stated that the WSOP feels as though the decision will best align the guest experience to stay up to date with the evolving standards of the industry. The change will also ensure the operators will deliver a consistent experience.

In the statement, Effel also stated that the policy change will not affect the poker tournaments as they have always operated with non-value tournament poker chips. Speaking with CardPlayer on the subject, Seth Palansky, a spokesman for the WSOP, stated that players can go to the cage to exchange cash or use a chip running during the series events.

Many casinos in the Las Vegas area have been stopping cash from being at the table during poker gaming. Such properties as Wynn Resorts, the Las Vegas Sands and MGM Resorts created such policy just over the past few weeks. After reviewing the changes at these properties, the WSOP decided to move in the same direction and remove the $100 bills from game play.

The 2015 WSOP is set to begin on the 27th of May with Event #1, the $565 Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em tournament and continue with many events on the schedule, culminating with the Main Event beginning on July 5th. The full schedule of events can be found at the WSOP website with buy-ins and structure information.
