Trump Entertainment was granted internet gaming licenses for its two Atlantic City casinos today. Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza became the third and fourth casinos to receive interactive licenses in New Jersey.
Trump Taj Mahal partnered with Ultimate Gaming, which is the parent company of Ultimate Poker. Ultimate Gaming launched the first regulated online poker room in the US when Ultimate Poker went live in Nevada on April 30, 2013. Ultimate Gaming has yet to receive its license in New Jersey.
Trump Plaza partnered with Betfair to provide its online gambling software. Betfair already holds a New Jersey gaming license through its TVG division. This group operates NJBets, which is the only advanced deposit wagering platform available to New Jersey horse bettors. This license does not carryover to online poker and casino games. Betfair is still awaiting approval for its interactive gaming license.
Borgata received the first New Jersey internet gaming license last week. Golden Nugget received the state’s second interactive license yesterday. The issuing of licenses does not mean the companies are guaranteed to go live on the November 26, 2013 date when sites will be permitted to launch regulated interactive gaming in New Jersey. A five-day trial period will start November 21st to invited players to ensure a smooth roll out of the second regulated US real money gaming market.
