Just last week, it was announced that PokerStars completed the deal of purchasing Full Tilt Poker. The poker community found out about the completed deal thanks to online poker forums such as TwoPlusTwo and poker executives at both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker have taken to the forums to release new information.
Lee Jones, a spokesman and executive at PokerStars, spoke out first on TwoPlusTwo by stating: “We’re delighted to announce that we have officially closed out deal with the U.S. DOJ as of today, August 9th. 90 days from today is November 6th, (yes, U.S. election day). Full Tilt Poker will be live no later than that day.”
Shyam Markus, a poker room manager at Full Tilt Poker, commented as well in another Full Tilt Poker post at TwoPlusTwo. Markus revealed that he posts under the name FTPDoug and he used this ID to answer questions that everyone has had about Full Tilt Poker.
In his post, Markus confirmed that Full Tilt Poker will be re-launching this year, at the latest in November. Markus also stated that the site may actually go live in October. Markus went on to state that even though Full Tilt Poker is owned by PokerStars, they will be managed separately and would become a ‘PokerStars’ site with a different look.
A few key points from Markus’ posts are that US players will still be able to log in and play for play money with their original Player IDs. The FTP site is also working on a .eu site and they are hoping to have it running as possible. FTP does not know if this site will be up and running as of re-launch.
Markus was also asked how FTP points, Ironman medals and loyalty rewards will be handled for former players from the US. Markus stated that players who have cash and points in their account and Iron Man Medals should have been converted to FTPs. Essentially; Markus did not have an answer as to what would happen with FTPs.
