FTOPS VIII Crowns More Online Poker Winners

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS VIII) continues to make headlines as more players are awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in the biggest current online poker event. Monday, May 12th, saw “lilkimmer77” awarded a first place prize of $51,165 for topping out Event #10 of FTOPS VIII, followed by “Halfrek” taking down Event #11 for an impressive $342,495 the same evening.

FTOPS VIII – Event #10
The PL Omaha Hi-Lo tournament got under way with more than 1,100 participants, higher than the expected guaranteed prize pool accommodated, increasing the original $200k GP to $227,400. Hosted by Full Tilt Pro Mike Matusow, who became the only Full Tilt Pro to cash in the event (47th place), it appeared “whothedonk” might accomplish his second title in the series thus far. Alas, as the final table dwindled down, “whothedonk” was eliminated in 7th position until finally, heads-up play began.

It came down to “lilkimmer77” and “Madame Maria”, but ultimately it was “lilkimmer77” who took down the tournament, pocketing $51,165 for his skilled efforts. He was also awarded a custom gold FTOPS jersey and gold FTOPS avatar. “Madame Maria” took 2nd place and a hefty cash of $32,405.

FTOPS VII – Event #11
The more lucrative FTOPS VIII event of the evening, this NL Hold’em tournament saw a vast field of 1,593 participants entering the $1,000 buy-in event, trumping the guaranteed prize pool to more than $1.5 million. The event, hosted by Full Tilt Pro Nick “The Takeover” Schulman, took nearly 9 hours to complete.

As the remaining competitors converged on the final table, Jonas “Klausen” made an impressive run for his second FTOPS VIII title, but fell just shy as he was sent to the rails in 3rd position. Heads-up play was left to “huey680” and “Halfrek”; a grueling duel that eventually concluded with “Halfrek” taking the 1st place prize of $342,495, along with the sought-after gold FTOPS jersey and avatar. A 2nd place prize of $216,648 went to “huey680”.

FTOPS VIII at Full Tilt Poker will continue running lucrative tournaments through May 18th, as the series winds down with the final Event #24, a $535 NL Hold’em tournament with a Guaranteed Prize Pool of $2,000,000.
