NETeller Founder Stephen Lawrence Pleads Guilty of Conspiracy

Stephen Lawrence, co-founder of NETeller Plc., plead guilty to one count of conspiracy in a US Federal Court last Friday. Lawrence and his co-founding partner, John Lefebvre, were arrested back in January while attempting to change plains on US soil - the charge, NETeller's facilitating of monetary transfers between online gambling operations and US citizens.
Peter Nieman, Lawrence's attorney, stated, "Mr. Lawrence is very glad to have this episode over and looks forward to moving on to the next stage of his life."
According to initial reports, as a part of his plea, Lawrence has agreed to take responsibility for a portion of the $100 million sought from NETeller by the US government.
Another part of his please agreement required Lawrence to make this statement, "I came to understand that providing payment services to online gambling web sites serving customers in the United States was wrong."
Until his hearing, set for October 29, 2007, Canadian native Stephen Lawrence will be free to roam the United States, Canada and the Bahamas.
