Kristen Bicknell Earns WSOP $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty Event Win

The first female to win a 2016 World Series of Poker event is Kirsten Bicknell, the recent top finisher of the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty event. Bicknell was able to outlast a field of 2,158 players to earn her second gold bracelet but first in an open bracelet event. Bicknell’s first WSOP bracelet came during the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em ladies event back in 2013.

Bicknell was able to knockout 17 players during the event, earning bounty chips for each knockout at $500 a pop. The part time poker player was surprised at how many players exited the tournament on the first day but felt the bounty was the reason behind so many going out early. Bicknell stated the bounty action made the tournament a lot of fun.

During day 3 of the event, Bicknell would be in second place in chips with 36 players left to compete. By one in the morning, Bicknell would lead the final three as player halted until day 4. Bicknell would eliminate John Myung in third place when the final day began and would hold a 3 to 1 chip lead as she took on Norbert Szecsi in heads-up game play.

On the final hand, Bicknell would raise to 450,000 from the button and Szecsi would call. The flop showed J-9-6 and Szecsi would check call with 300,000 and an Ace would be revealed on the turn. Szecsi would check call again to 800,000 and the river would bring a 3. Checking again, Szecsi would see Bicknell move all in. Szecsi would call with his 9-7 but Bicknell’s A-4 would provide top pair and give the pro the win.
