Cougars Looking for Bounce Back

Kelvin Sampson and his Houston Cougars have gotten a rude welcome into Big 12 play. Once unbeaten, the Cougars lost back to back games at Iowa State and TCU. Those losses were by a total of five points. The Cougars are playing with the best defense in the country, allowing just 51.4 points per game.

Offensively, L.J. Cryer is the man scoring the most points. The guard is up over 15 points per game, and making nearly 41% of his shots. Jamal Shead is next on the Cougars, with 10.1 points per game, and 5.9 assists. The Cougars had a late lead in the final seconds of the loss at TCU but allowed an Emanuel Miller layup to seal the deal.

Houston’s schedule shows them at home for this game, and a visit from UCF on Saturday. Following that, the Cougars are at Brigham Young, and then back home to host Kansas State, and go on the road to Texas to start February. Houston is at Kansas on February 3rd.

Red Raiders Seeking to Stay Hot

There may not be a hotter team in College Basketball right now than the Texas Tech Red Raiders. They are 3-0 in league play, in arguably the best conference in college basketball. The two losses this season for Texas Tech came early to Villanova, and the non the road at Butler. In the Butler game, they allowed a season high 103 points.

Pop Isaacs is the top scorer for the Red Raiders. He is scoring more than 16 points per game. Texas Tech as a team is scoring 77.6 points per game, and the defense is allowing teams to score just shy of 65 per game. Joe Toussaint is also having a nice season for Texas Tech with 14.1 points and 3.9 assists per game.

The Red Raiders have a home game with the Cougars of Brigham Young coming up on Saturday. Following that game, Texas Tech will finish the month of January with back to back road games at Oklahoma and TCU.

Red Raiders Compete; Cougars Win

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are going to compete in this game. This is too many points that the oddsmakers are giving them. But, when push comes to shove, Houston wins a tight one. We like the Cougars 65-60 over the Red Raiders. The under hits as well!
