Tennessee Martin Skyhawks at Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview

On Saturday, the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks journey to Athens, Georgia, to confront the Georgia Bulldogs. Hailing from the Ohio Valley Conference, the Skyhawks are part of Division 1 FCS football. They shared the conference title with Southeast Missouri State but missed the playoff automatic bid due to a tiebreaker.

In the previous season, the Skyhawks triumphed over Western Illinois initially but faced consecutive losses against Missouri State and Boise State. They also encountered Tennessee, suffering a significant 41-point defeat.

Conversely, the Georgia Bulldogs continued their dominance, clinching a second consecutive national title. They secured the SEC title by defeating LSU 50-30 and triumphed over Ohio State 42-41 in the College Football semifinal. The title game saw them crush TCU 65-7. Georgia is a 45-point favorite, with the total coming in at 55.5 for this game.

Big Underdogs

The UT Martin Skyhawks are led by Jason Simpson, entering his 18th season as the head coach. In his career, Simpson has won over 100 games. UT Martin not only won the conference title last season but also in 2021. The Skyhawks are losing a ton of talent, including 14 guys who made the all-conference list a season ago. The Skyhawks do have guys returning that should be a big help, including Gavin Olson and DJ Nelson.

The Skyhawks also will welcome Kinkead Dent to the team. The starting quarterback came over after playing in 17 games at Ole Miss. Kinkead will be familiar with the Bulldogs and their daunted defense. Ygenio Booker, Jordan Castleberry, and Narkel Leflore should get to carry the football early in the season. This program will eventually be good, but the early season could be challenging.

Back to Back… To Back?

Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs are seeking the third straight national title. The Bulldogs are losing Stetson Bennett, who opponents felt was there for 15 years at quarterback. Now, Georgia will turn to Carson Beck. It will be interesting to see how Georgia converts from a veteran signal-caller to a new comer.

Kendall Milton returns for Georgia, and he expects to get the lion’s share of the running back carries, at least early in the season. He had eight touchdowns a season ago.

Georgia will start the season with four straight home games, so Smart hopes the new quarterback will get time to settle in. Helping him out will be Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers. Those two will be two of the top targets in college football. Dominic Lovell, a transfer from Missouri, also joins the party. Both Bowers and McConkey had seven touchdowns a season ago. Bowers was just 58 yards shy of 1,000.

Bulldogs Roll to Victory

The Georgia Bulldogs will win this game, and win this game with authority. While Georgia has some question marks after losing so many guys, the UT Martin Skyhawks have even more. UT Martin does not have the talent that Georgia has so that it will be much more of an adjustment for them. Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs win this game.

Take Georgia -45 over the Skyhawks. Our final score prediction for this game on Saturday is the Georgia Bulldogs 52-6 over the UT Martin Skyhawks.
