In Week 9 of the National Football League season – the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins will mix it up on Sunday Night Football. The Oakland Raiders are in dead last in the AFC West with a 3-5 record. The Raiders are coming off a blowout loss on the road at the Buffalo Bills.
For the Miami Dolphins, they are also coming off a loss. The Dolphins took a 40-0 thrashing at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. The Dolphins are 4-3, which is second place in the AFC East behind Buffalo. A loss here would drop them to last with the Jets. The Oakland Raiders are -3 in this game over the Miami Dolphins.
The Miami Dolphins made some big news during the week, as they traded their top running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles. The running back had struggled this season, with no touchdown runs. Ajayi is 35 yards shy of 500 on the season. Kenyan Drake will get the start at running back in this game for the Dolphins.
Jay Cutler is back as the quarterback in this game. The former Bears signal callers was hurt during the Dolphins 40-0 loss last week. Cutler has thrown for 995 yards and 7 touchdowns this season. Jarvis Landry leads the Dolphins with 3 touchdown receptions on the season. Miami travels to Carolina for their Week 10 affair.
Raiders in a Must Win Situation
While this is a monster game for the Miami Dolphins, this is a MUST WIN for the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders cannot afford to fall to 3-6, and have a chance at the postseason. Last season, the Raiders were red hot and won the AFC West. This season, Oakland cannot seem to gain any traction. The Raiders three wins came over the Titans, Jets and at home over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is just 346 yards shy of 2,000 on the season. Carr has thrown 12 touchdowns on the season as well. Michael Crabtree leads the team with 6 touchdown receptions, while catching 33 passes. Marshawn Lynch came to Oakland, but has been relatively ineffective, with just 2 touchdowns all season.
Dolphins Get Best of Raiders
The Miami Dolphins are home at Hard Rock Stadium in this game. As we mentioned earlier, this is about as much of a must win game for both these teams as you will find. The Dolphins were embarrassed their last time out by the Ravens. They are going to look to get back on track against an Oakland team that has yet to really play well for a consistent time period.
Look for a well played good, with both teams playing tough. But, in the end, the home team wins this game. The long travel for Oakland all the way to Miami will be a factor. The bet for this game goes with the Miami Dolphins. Bet the Dolphins +3 over the Raiders on Sunday.
