St. Louis Blues at Boston Bruins Game 7 Betting Preview

The 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Finals are headed to a Game 7 on Wednesday night, and the Boston Bruins will be playing on home ice. The Bruins were able to keep their season alive with a convincing victory over the St. Louis Blues to force a decisive game. St. Louis missed out on a great opportunity to win their first-ever Stanley Cup Championship with a loss at home on Sunday night.

St. Louis is trying to cap off one of the more improbable runs through the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blues were the worst team in the NHL at one point in January and have been underdogs throughout this run. Boston is trying to win its second Stanley Cup in this decade, and they have a team loaded with veterans. The Bruins rattled off eight straight wins at one point in the postseason. The Boston Bruins are -160 over the St. Louis Blues in Game 7.

Bruins Getting Solid Goaltending

The Boston Bruins were one of the toughest teams to score on in the regular season, and that trend has continued throughout the postseason. Goaltender Tuukka Rask has stopped 94 percent of the shots he has faced during this incredible run and isn’t allowing more than two goals per game. Rask came up big for his team when they needed him in Game 6, making 28 saves and stopping any momentum that the Blues might have had.

Boston has been getting offense from nearly everyone on its roster during the playoffs, but Brad Marchand has been the offensive MVP for the Bruins. Marchand got the scoring going in Game 6 and now leads the team with nine goals and 23 points during this run. Defenseman Torey Krug is leading the team with 16 assists, and he has been tremendous in setting up a very dangerous Boston power-play unit.

Blues Need Stars to Provide Offense

The St. Louis Blues couldn’t generate any offense in the Game 6 loss, and they need their stars to step up in this game. Jaden Schwartz leads the Blues with 12 goals during this playoff run but has been held in check in the last few games. Ryan O’Reilly scored three goals in Games 4 and 5, but couldn’t find any space in Game 6 despite recording the team’s only goal. The Blues are going to need to find someone to spark their offense in this game.

Jordan Binnington has been great for the Blues so far during the postseason, but he looked like a rookie in the Game 6 loss. Binnington gave up four goals in that loss, and some of them were pretty weak goals to give up. The rookie has stopped 91 percent of the shots he has faced, but the Blues are going to need a superstar effort from him on Wednesday night.

Boston Wins Game, Stanley Cup

The city of St. Louis was ready to celebrate its first-ever Stanley Cup Championship on Sunday night, but now they are going to have to wait until next year at least. The Blues blew a chance to win it on their home ice, and things are just going to get tougher for them on the road. Boston knows how to get the job done, and Tuukka Rask is going to lead this team to their first title since 2011. Bet the Boston Bruins -160 over the St. Louis Blues in this game.
