San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Preview

The San Antonio Spurs got off to a good start this year but have struggled over their last few games to perform to standards. The Spurs will be an up-and-down team this season as they are basically a team of role players built around mid-range magnates LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan. Some nights San Antonio won’t miss any shots and will shut down its opponents, and other nights, things just won’t click. At the end of the day, the franchise’s long playoff streak should be able to go on.

Minnesota, on the other hand, is also looking like a team that can seriously contend for a spot in the postseason. The new Andrew Wiggins in Minnesota is looking like an All-Star, as he’s now into his sixth year in the league. Karl-Anthony Towns has expanded his game out to three-point range, and Ryan Saunders is doing a nice job of managing this group. Their overall home attendance ranks near the bottom, but we should expect a packed house for this one.

The Wolves are set as two-point favorites in this one, while the over/under is set at 227.5. The moneyline on Minnesota is +127, while it’s +108 for San Antonio.

Spurs Looking To Rediscover Their Mojo

The Spurs rank among the best rebounding teams in the game, and they hardly commit silly fouls. It’s time for San Antonio to fix some of the other elements of their game now. DeRozan is leading a group of seven Spurs players that are averaging double-digit points per game at 19.4. Aldridge is shooting better than 50 percent from the floor, although his numbers have been down, and Dejounte Murray has been playing well on both ends of the floor in his comeback campaign. Defensively, the Spurs make life difficult for their opponents.

Outside of Bryn Forbes and Patty Mills, the Spurs don’t specifically look for the three-ball, but rather for the best shot available. Some days they could hang 15 threes on you, but this game won’t be one of them. Watch for Forbes to have a big night, though.

Minnesota Tries To Make A Statement

Wiggins and Towns are the engines that make this team drive, and both have been dominant through the team’s first 10 games, getting buckets left and right. The offense outside of the two of them has been a bit iffy, and things have been a little tough with both Jeff Teague and Shabazz Napier missing the last few games. This will likely stretch into this game, so Jordan McLaughlin continues to get the backup minutes while rookie Jarrett Culver runs point. He’s still learning the NBA game but should prove himself to be a valuable asset in the long term.

Josh Okogie’s defense on DeRozan will go a long way in determining the winner of this contest. If the Timberwolves can get a solid performance out of Robert Covington, that’s even better.
