San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers Betting Preview

San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers Betting Preview

The Spurs and Clippers will battle on Tuesday night in a game featuring a young team versus a veteran one. San Antonio has begun 4-9, and looks like in the early stages of the year that they may not be a playoff threat. It’s been a tough few years for them after a number of incredible ones, and it’s too bad as Gregg Popovich’s career winds down that it happens like this.

But, they remain competitive in most games. Playing without Jakob Poeltl has not been easy, but perhaps the only positive of that is they have given bigger minutes to Thaddeus Young, who has been looking very good in a bench role and could have trade value later in the year. Zach Collins should be able to return within the next few months and give them more depth up front, too.

As for the Clippers, they had a seven-game winning streak snapped recently. They have been a very good club throughout, now sitting at 8-5. They re-tooled a little bit and had to deal with some injuries, but Paul George has proved his tremendous leadership, both on and off the floor, keeping them ready to roll pretty much every night.

This will be a fun battle between two excellent head coaches. It will be enjoyable to watch the teams go at each other.

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for the contest is set at LAC -6.5. The over/under is sitting at 220.5 points. The SA moneyline is +215, and the Clips line is -272.

Spurs Aiming for Win No. 5

4-9 is not the start the Spurs envisioned for themselves. But it really isn’t that much of a shock, given that DeMar DeRozan is now on the Bulls, and the return wasn’t too great. They have plenty of talent and are led by Dejounte Murray, but they need a star here if they want to get back into winning conversations.

San Antonio could package a few youngsters to land a big name. Because since trading Kawhi Leonard, they have not advanced past the first round or been able to win enough games to remain relevant throughout a season.

They need to make Paul George’s life tough tonight if they want to win.

Clippers Seek to Start New Streak

It’s always tough to see your long winning streak reach its end. The Clips had won seven in a row, so this loss brought them right back down to earth. And it does happen, but it also makes you question some of the little things out there. And examine what went wrong.

Eric Bledsoe and Reggie Jackson have both been playing very good ball for this team, doing a nice job to complement what Paul George brings. And hopefully, Serge Ibaka isn’t going to be out too long after seemingly re-tweaking his back. He’s barely been on the court since coming over last year.

Clips Win

PG and company have a bit more star power and will use it to their edge, winning at home against the Spurs.
