Philadelphia 76ers at Miami Heat Betting Preview

Philly is hoping to finish the year on a high note, as they control the #3 seed heading into the postseason. They were in this same position last year and disposed of D-Wade’s team in the opening round. A win tonight will end his playoff run before it can start.

Miami needs quite a few things to happen in order to get into the postseason, but they are not technically dead yet. If they can beat the Sixers tonight, they can at least give themselves some sort of chance.

Sixers:

Owners of the #2 offense in the NBA, this is a team that has won a large chunk of their games by simply outscoring their opponents. Too many times this season their defense (#18 in the league in points allowed) has just folded and allowed the opposition to totally destroy them. Nevertheless, they are immensely talented and have a ridiculously impressive depth chart. The midseason additions of Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris surprised many folks, but both of the trades helped the Sixers to get to where they are now. They hope to win the East.

With Joel Embiid out of the lineup tonight, we should get a heavy dose of the newly-signed Greg Monroe, as well as Boban. Jonah Bolden is questionable, so a likely scenario would see the two aforementioned bigs to each play 20-25 minutes. Ben Simmons said that the team needs to face a competitive foe like Miami to try and get their mojo back. We shall see if they can.

Heat:

It is do or die time for these guys, as their recent losing skid has completely halted all of the progress they had been previously making. The odds are stacked against them, but the least they can do for the best player to ever don a Miami jersey is win their last two regular-season games. This is a team that has lacked identity all year long and has an excess of wings. They have found a way to make it work while giving everybody a fairly large chunk of minutes. But they have not had any stars on this roster, and that is exactly what they were missing. There isn’t a player on this roster like that.

With all of the $10-$15 million per year players they have, they can get rid of two to get a bigger name. The fact they are paying James Johnson, Dion Waiters, and Justise Winslow north of $12 million a year tells you what you need to know. They will HAVE TO get rid of Ryan Anderson’s albatross of a contract this summer at all costs.

Heat win a tight game, keep slim hope alive

Be sure you bet MIA -3! The Heat’s ship will not sink just yet, as D-Wade is going to will them to victory. He has two games in his career left most likely, but he will make them count. This is his final regular season home game, and the crowd will be BUZZING!
