NFL Preseason Week 3: Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Week three of the NFL Preseason schedule will kick off on Thursday night when the Cleveland Browns host the Philadelphia Eagles. Most teams will play their regular starters for a large chunk in week three, and the games should be more crisp. The Philadelphia Eagles are the defending Super Bowl Champions and look to be solid again this season.

The Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Giants in the preseason opener before falling to the Buffalo Bills, 19-17 last week. The Eagles have struggled this preseason, suffering blowout losses to both the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots. The Philadelphia Eagles are +3.0 in this matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

Browns Have Young Talent

The Cleveland Browns should be much improved in 2018 after suffering through an 0-16 season in 2017. Cleveland selected Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick in the 2018 draft pick, and the quarterback has looked solid this preseason. Cleveland has a roster full of young talent thanks to a plethora of draft picks in recent seasons. Head coach Hue Jackson has been happy with the team’s first two preseason efforts.

Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor will be the starter as the Cleveland Browns enter the regular season, but he has some competition. Taylor was 4-7 for just 22 yards in the Browns week 2 loss, but should see more action in this game. Mayfield will also get a ton of snaps in this game, but still has some work to do before the regular season starts. Both quarterbacks will face a tough defense in this game.

Nick Foles Escapes Major Injury

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was able to escape major injury after taking a big hit in their last game against the New England Patriots. Foles was the Super Bowl MVP last season, but is expected to be the backup to Carson Wentz this season. Foles is expected to see plenty of action in the game against the Browns on Thursday.

The Eagles should be one of the top teams in the NFL this season, but they have struggled through in their first two preseason outings. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has expressed that he wants his team to look more sharp against the Browns, and many of the starters will see extended playing time in this game. Look for the Eagles to look like the Philadelphia team of last season in this game.

Eagles Defeat Browns

The Cleveland Browns have looked much improved this preseason, but they still have a long ways to go to compete with the NFL’s elite. The Browns are looking for a much better showing from their quarterbacks in this game. Both Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield need to improve in leading the Browns offense.

The Eagles have struggled so far in this preseason, but look for that to change on Thursday night. Nick Foles will get a ton of playing time as will many of the Eagles starters. Philadelphia needs to get prepared for the regular season and they will look sharp on Thursday night to earn the win. Bet the Eagles +3.0 to defeat the Browns and earn their first preseason win.
