MLB Betting Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Yankees

Arizona has as much talent on its roster as any other team in the majors. But the wins have not been there as they were a season ago, and it is looking as if they may be sellers at the trade deadline, which hits on Wednesday. They’ve got solid starting pitching and a very good closer. They have bats all up and down their lineup and are not missing too much. It just has not been put all together here in 2019, and it has shown.

The Yankees, on the other hand, defeated the Red Sox on Sunday to avoid a four-game sweep, starting the week anew after allowing a whopping 77 runs in their previous seven games. They are still 29 games over .500 with a solid lead atop the AL East. The postseason will have them in it no matter what type of struggles they may still go through. But they have some things to fix, starting pitching being the most important.

The moneyline for the Diamondbacks is +200, while it is -235 for the Yankees.

Diamondbacks Hovering Around .500

Eduardo Escobar is leading the team with 80 runs batted in and has gone yard 22 times. Ketel Marte, though, has been the best hitter in the lineup with a .320 average, 23 long balls, and 65 runs batted in. Nick Ahmed and Christian Walker have both been solid, and we’ll see if both guys last with the team through the deadline. They are rumored to be possibly moving Zack Greinke, but his no-trade list covers half of MLB so the trade may be a bit tough. They have a strong one-two punch in the rotation with Greinke and Robbie Ray and struggle below them.

Taylor Clarke will make his 12th start (13th appearance). The 26-year-old has posted a 3-3 record with a 6.10 ERA in 51 2/3 innings of work. He has struck out 39 batters while walking 19.

Yankees Looking To Regroup

After the horrid week they are coming off of, they hope that things will start looking up. The list of injuries have been stacking up on them again, Brett Gardner, Gary Sanchez, and CC Sabathia recently joining the hefty list. DJ LeMahieu has also missed the past few games, leaving very few constants in this lineup. We’ll see which hitters emerge in this series with Arizona, as for now, it remains to be seen. Can their starting pitching get through the game’s first few innings? If so, perhaps they may be able to survive.

JA Happ has been in a funk of late, but will still make his 21st start of the season today. The 36-year-old has posted an 8-3 record with a 5.23 ERA in 103 1/3 innings of work. He has struck out 87 batters while walking 27.
