Milwaukee Bucks at Brooklyn Nets Game 5 Betting Preview

NBA: Playoffs-Brooklyn Nets at Milwaukee Bucks

It truly is crazy how fast a playoff series can swing around. The Brooklyn Nets led the Milwaukee Bucks 2-0 and looked like they had the potential for a sweep. But now it’s all tied up, and 2 out of 3 of the Nets’ superstars are not able to play. As things go on, Milwaukee is very much alive and could stake a major claim on the road here.

The Bucks have been able to turn things around significantly over the past couple of games and now are in a position to win the series. If they can claim a road victory in game 5, it would allow them the chance at the lead. And if that does happen, they could put it to bed at home, where they have gone undefeated during these NBA playoffs.

With Kyrie Irving and James Harden both out, the question becomes about the Nets supporting cast. Who do they turn to? Mike James had played well in the first few games but was much less effective away from home. Joe Harris has not been shooting the basketball well. There are options at the end of the bench, and it will be interesting to see which guys they go to. Kevin Durant is all alone.

2018 LeBron and 2021 Durant are looking very similar right now, having to do everything to win big games under the circumstances.

ODDS

The game 5 spread is currently set at MIL -4. The over/under is 217.5 points.

Bucks Seeking Critical Win

For the past two playoffs, Milwaukee underachieved. They blew a 2-0 lead in the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals. And in 2020, they fell short in round two. They have a major chance now to get it done. It has been a long few years since they have a playoff series go the distance, but now things might be different for them.

The team has been much better in the past two games, and they have their coach to thank. Mike Budenholzer has opted to give a lot more playing time to his stars and shrink the bench minutes by all guys. PJ Tucker as a starter is beginning to pay dividends. And Giannis Antetokounmpo is looking as great as ever.

PJ Tucker covering KD all night and Giannis scoring 30 will go a long way toward lifting the team to the win.

Brooklyn Seeks 3-2 Lead

No Harden. No Irving. Durant will have to be the man, and there are no excuses. When you assemble a team like the Nets did, it is done so that in case of situations like this, the team is ready to go. There is no I in team or in KD’s last name.

Harris is among the guys that will have to step up. It would be tremendous if the team could have Spencer Dinwiddie ready, but he is still a ways away. They are short-handed, and players have to be better.

A big game from Blake Griffin, 40 from KD, and an off day from Jrue Holiday are needed for a BK win.

NETS LOSE

The Bucks will get the win and take a 3-2 lead. Giannis will have a big day and guide the team to a victory.
