We have one of the best NBA games of the season on Saturday night as the Los Angeles Lakers will be taking on the Boston Celtics. When thinking about NBA history, these are the first two teams that are always going to pop to mind because of what they’ve been able to accomplish throughout their franchises’ history.
While both teams haven’t necessarily done the same things over the past 50-plus years, the Lakers and Celtics are typically two of the best teams in basketball. Unfortunately, that’s not necessarily the case this season as Boston is one of the best teams in basketball, and the Lakers are one of the worst in terms of records. Boston is currently a 7.5-point favorite.
Will the Celtics Bounce Back?
The Boston Celtics are undoubtedly one of the top three teams in basketball and there’s a great argument to be made that this is the best team in the league. They’re currently 35-15, but have struggled a bit recently losing their last three games. Ever since Marcus Smart went down, Boston simply hasn’t been able to do the job. They still have the best record in basketball and the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, but dropping more games could put them in a tough spot moving forward.
Because of that, it’s expected that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are going to come out and be able to do whatever they want just as they typically do as they look for a win in this game.
The Celtics‘ next few games are tough as they take on the Lakers, Nets, and Suns, so they realize that they want to get this win here and find a way to win on national television. The Lakers are 23-26, but they know that LeBron James and Anthony Davis are going to be doing everything they can to try to get their team back into playoff contention.
Can the Lakers Figure it Out?
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the more interesting teams in basketball because everybody knows the type of talent that their top players do have, but they simply can’t seem to put it together. At 23-26, this season has certainly been a disappointment for Los Angeles. However, they have had some games throughout the year where they look to be an above-average team and that’s what they’re hoping can continue here. They came off a win in their last game against San Antonio Spurs and are playing .500 basketball throughout their last 10 games.
Lakers vs. Celtics Prediction
With this game being played in Boston and how much better the Celtics have been this season, it might not be a bad idea to take the Celtics -7.5. If the Lakers come out and play the way that everybody knows they can at their best, they do have a chance of even winning this game outright, but the Celtics feel like the better bet here. Despite Boston being on a three-game losing streak, it would make sense if this team finds a way to get back on track and start playing winning basketball once again.
