Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Pelicans Betting Pick

Coming off a loss to Memphis last night, Los Angeles is looking for a quick rebound win on national TV. They have been taken down only 13 times through 58 games as they sit atop the Western Conference with 24 games left to be played.

They have been tough for all their opponents this year with their defensive prowess, combined with all of their size. They surprisingly took the defeat last night, and now they hope to beat Zion and co. for the second time in 10 days.

New Orleans has taken a 6-21 start to the season and gotten better. They are 20-12 since that putrid start and are #9 in the conference. When they last made the playoffs a few seasons ago, they swept Portland in the opening round before running into trouble against the Warriors and falling in five.

The young core is all playing well right now, the team full of several fantastic options to throw out there. We’ll see what they can do as they are back in the spotlight this evening.

The Lakers are two-point favorites this evening, as their moneyline is set at -128. For the Pelicans, it’s +110.

Lakers looking for road success

Both LeBron and AD struggled to impact the game in the second half last night, and though they did rally early on in the fourth, it would fall well short. Still, they have not taken many defeats this season, so one loss could be a wake-up call.

Danny Green sat with a hip injury last night, and the hope for them is that he can still suit up tonight. He and AB form a tenacious duo on the defensive end, though neither guy is shooting the ball too well for the Lakers this year.

Wins have come easily for the team that out-sizes most of its opposition. AD and JaVale open the game, and then they bring Dwight Howard in, and it is like they really aren’t missing a beat. LeBron can also play anywhere PG through PF, so that helps their versatility.

Pelicans looking to ascend

They can reach a new level of impressive with a victory in this one. And on a team with All-Star Brandon Ingram and former All-Star Jrue Holiday, it is 19-year-old Zion Williamson leading the way. In his 14 appearances, he has averaged 23 points and seven boards, shooting the ball at an impressive 58% clip.

Listed at 6-6, he is doing all of his work inside of the paint, proving just how dangerous he can be. He is truly something remarkable, and with all of the hype he had and the pressure he faces each night, he does not shy away.

They do have a chance tonight, but they need to start fast. The Lakers are clearly the superior team, so it will be about slowing down their old pal, AD.

Lakers win a close one
