New York Yankees (51-25)
So far so good. Though they don’t have any .300 hitters, the Yankees have five players who have driven in thirty-six runs or more this year. The offensive output has been fantastic, as has the starting pitching, led by Luis Severino. The addition of Giancarlo Stanton has made their lineup as dangerous as ever, alongside Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorious. The one issue they have to worry about now, is the recent injury to Gary Sanchez. In his absence, they will need Austin Romine to step ups game up.
Luis Severino will take the mound for his seventeenth start of the season. Thus far, he has gone 11-2, posting a 2.24 ERA. In 104 2/3 innings of work, he has struck out 123 batters, while walking just 26. He allowed three runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings against the Mariners in his last start.
Philadelphia Phillies (41-35)
So far so good for the Phillies in 2018. Led by Aaron Nola, their starting rotation has been getting the job done this year. They have a team ERA of a solid 3.89. On the offensive side of things, Odubel Herrera has been on absolute tear, going deep in five of the team’s last eight games. Rhys Hoskins has been starting to showcase the power we saw from him last year, something that will only help to win his team more games. They blew a lead against the Nats the other night and lost game one to the Yanks last night.
The Phillies will send Jake Arrieta to the mound for his fifteenth start of the season. He has gone 5-5 with a 3.42 ERA this year. He has struck out 54 while walking 26 in 79 innings of work. He allowed three runs on four hits over six innings against the Cardinals in his last start.
Yankees claim victory!
It’ll be a win tonight for the Yankees, listed as -202 favorites. Aaron Judge will go deep twice today to bring his HR total to 22 as he helps his squad to victory. Another strong start from Luis Severino will give him his twelfth win of the year.
