Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers Betting Preview

Two of the top teams in the NFC will clash on Sunday Night Football when the Green Bay Packers take on the San Francisco 49ers.

This season has served as the long-overdue revival of the Packers, who are yet to find tremendous success since their one Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl at the beginning of the decade. At 8-2, they lead the competitive NFC North and will likely get into the postseason with a bye week to start if they can emerge with this victory. Matt LaFleur has been just what this team needed, as the wins have been piling up, crushing the opposition week in and week out.

San Francisco, on the other hand, is sitting at 9-1, fresh off a win that followed their first loss of the season. All has been great for this team that has struggled since the departure of Jim Harbaugh. At 9-1, they have proven themselves as a real contender, though they do not have much room with which to breathe. Seattle is breathing down their necks, just a game out in the NFC West, so a loss to the talented Packers could send the 49ers into a Wild Card spot, even with a 9-2 record.

The spread for this game favors the home 49ers by three points, while the over/under is set at 48.

Packers Looking To Keep It Rolling

At 8-2, the Packers certainly look better than they did over the prior few years, the decision to finally move on from Mike McCarthy paying some serious dividends. LaFleur has breathed new life into this team, which is currently ninth in points scored. Rodgers has continued to take care of the football like a toddler he’s babysitting, tossing just two interceptions through 10 games, with his lack of turnovers continuing to be a big part of their wins. He has slung 17 TD passes and is throwing for nearly 270 yards per game. Aaron Jones has scored 11 rushing touchdowns and has 14 in all. He’s been a tremendous back for them.

It has been all about the Smiths on defense for Green Bay. Preston and Za’Darius have recorded 18.5 sacks combined, with the decision to pay both of them big bucks to join the team proving hugely significant. Blake Martinez has also made 102 tackles already.

San Francisco Trying To Stay On Top

San Francisco is a team that has been strong on both sides of the football. They rank second in points scored as well as points allowed. Jimmy Garoppolo has thrown 18 TD passes but is averaging one interception per contest, a figure that will have to drop. He has spread the love to several receivers this year, with the addition of Emmanuel Sanders giving them a defined No. 1 threat. Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman have led the rushing attack with a lot of Raheem Mostert mixed in, and Jeff Wilson has added four rushing scores for them.

In 10 games, the 49ers have sacked opposing QBs an astounding 39 times, with four players recording at least five. They also have 11 interceptions of opposing QBs.

49ers Win A Close One

Defense is the name of the game Sunday night, as Richard Sherman will record a game-clinching interception late to propel the Niners to 10-1.
