Toronto defeated the Wizards on Saturday night by a score of 114-106. The Wizards come in as the 8th seed, while the Raptors are the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Washington is +6.5 against the Raptors in Game 2.

This game, and series, will likely come down to guard play. The Toronto Raptors feature Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, and the Washington Wizards counter with Bradley Beal and John Wall. Both teams like to score and they will challenge one another all series long. Despite the seeding, these two teams are very evenly matched.

Wizards Must Keep Their Composure

It looked like the Washington Wizards were going to steal game 1 for much of the contest on Saturday. The Wizards struggled down the stretch though, and the Raptors were able to take control. Wall had a great first game tallying 23 points and 15 assists. Wall and the Wizards must keep exploiting the Raptors weak pick and roll defense.

Markieff Morris also had a strong performance in game 1 before suffering an ankle injury. Morris notched a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Wizards need Morris to be healthy if they have a chance to win game 2. The Wizards must also get more scoring from Bradley Beal. Beal only scored 19 points in 41 minutes.

Raptors’ Depth is a Huge Factor

The Raptors were able to win game 1 of this series because of the depth of their roster. 11 Raptors saw minutes on Saturday and that same number of guys should see the court in game 2. Backup point guard, Delon Wright, scored 18 points off the bench in the 25 minutes of action that he saw.

Toronto will need their dynamic duo of DeRozan and Lowry to play better if they are going to win game 2. The talented guards combined for just 28 points in their series opening victory. The Raptors must also figure out a way to keep Wizards guard John Wall out of the paint.

Toronto Takes a 2-0 Series Lead

The Wizards don’t want to go down 2-0 in this series, but they missed a great chance to steal a game on Saturday. Washington will once again have to deal with the raucous Air Canada Centre crowd, and they will have to figure out a way to finish the Raptors off.

Even with DeRozan and Lowry having an off night, Toronto was able to win the opener thanks to their remarkable depth. The All Star guards are going to bounce back in game 2 and they will lead the Raptors offense to a big scoring night. The Raptors will give the sellout crowd plenty to cheer about on Tuesday night, and they will win big against the Washington Wizards. Bet the Toronto Raptors -6.5 over the Washington Wizards.
