Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers Betting Preview

An AFC West battle is going to ensue Sunday between a pair of teams who both badly need a victory. For Denver, starting 0-4, this is not what they expected when they acquired Joe Flacco to be their quarterback, and when they made some of their big offseason splashes. Losing Bradley Chubb for the year will project to put a damper on the quality of the pass rush, while it will also make life a little tougher for Von Miller, now down one of his star rushing mates. They need their offense to wake up today.

For Los Angeles, the prospect of Melvin Gordon making his season debut is present after he graced the active roster for the first time last week following the end of his holdout. Their offense really hasn’t had any issues, but the defense has been a little mediocre, and, at 2-2, this team is not where they want to be. It already looks that through four weeks like Kansas City will be winning the division, leaving a Wild Card spot possibly open for these guys.

The spread for Sunday’s game favors the Chargers by 6.5 points, while the over/under is set at 44.

Denver Looking For First Win

Through the first four games played, the Broncos have not yet amassed a win. They have been awfully close multiple times, but their defense could not hold the lead or stop a downfield drive in the waning seconds. Joe Flacco has rallied the troops on a few occasions, only to see his defense fall apart at the seams and allow a few late field goals to knock them off. This is a group that does have a lot of potential with a few young and hungry running backs. Look for them to come out aggressive, as they try and finally awaken the first-half offense.

Miller is going to need to put as much pressure on Philip Rivers as he can, and if they choose to double-team him, the Broncos will also have to use that to their advantage.

Chargers Try To Move Over .500

Rivers has been performing solidly this year; his rapport with Keenan Allen comparable to any other QB-WR in the game right now. These two are hotter than Pop-Tarts fresh out of the toaster and will be looking to keep it rolling. The running game without Gordon has not been great, though Justin Jackson, Austin Ekeler and Troymaine Pope have all been effective pass-catchers out of the backfield, still moving the chains and churning out the yards. With Hunter Henry out for an extended period for a second straight season, they are missing their guy, but have grown used to it.

If LA can get early pressure on Flacco, it could be in for a big week. Look for the Chargers to apply as much pressure as they can and not double any receivers.

Chargers Get Their Third Win

Make sure to ride the Chargers. Rivers with 300 yards and three TD strikes will lead the way!
