Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers Betting Preview

Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers Betting Preview

The Chargers will get their first taste of home action this season with the Cowboys coming to town to visit SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles’ second straight NFC East matchup to start the season.

In last week’s first matchup, the Chargers snuck out a win against the Washington Football Team by a score of 20-16. Justin Herbert looked great and was able to pick apart his opposing defense in Washington.

The Cowboys, however, are coming off a loss in the NFL Season opener versus the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the defense was able to get four turnovers against Tom Brady and his crew, while the offense was able to put up over 400 yards against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The game will kickoff at 4:25 ET from Los Angeles and will be televised by CBS.

Keys for the Chargers

The Cowboys’ defense will give up yards and points, so for the Chargers, it is about maintaining the high-powered Cowboys offense led by Dak Prescott and his dynamic receivers.

Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb were dangerous against the Buccaneers for over 240 yards and three touchdowns. It will be up to the Chargers secondary of Derwin James, Chris Harris, and a first-round draft pick, Asante Samuel Jr.

On offense, the Chargers passing attack will be able to expose the Cowboys, and seams will be open for Keenan Allen to work in.

Rookie tackle Rashawn Slater looked phenomenal last week, maintaining the edge rushers of Washington, and he will have less of a challenge this week against an injured Dallas team.

Keys for the Cowboys

Score. Score. Score.

Despite all the changes that the Cowboys made this off-season to improve their defense, they still did not look ready to compete last week against the Buccaneers.

And things didn’t get much better this week with the news of an injury to Demarcus Lawrence as he will miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing foot surgery.

So, once again, the Cowboys will rely on their scoring ability to try and win this game. Dak Prescott and co. looked phenomenal last week, and if they can keep that up, there is a chance they stay in this game.

Prediction

The Chargers have a legitimate shot at starting their season 2-0 in this game, and as 3.5 point favorites in this game, I think that is something they will do. The offense is strong, and with the injuries to the Cowboys’ defense, there is a good chance they look even better this week.

Defensively, the Chargers will face a huge test in this Cowboys team, but if they can pace the scoring, they should come out ahead.

But Dallas is unpredictable, which leads me to believe that the better bet on this game is the over at 55 points.

The Cowboys will score, and they will also let up points, and that is the exact formula needed to hit the over in this contest.

Final Pick: Over 55 (-110)
