Colorado showed some promise in the early part of the season, but what else is new? Nolan Arenado has continued to be among the best in the league, while Charlie Blackmon has been fantastic. But these two are reminiscent of Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki, the team’s old dynamic duo. As well as they perform and as well as they hit, the rest of the team struggles and they allow just too many runs at home. That team reached the playoffs eventually, but this one is a ways away.
The Dodgers have been a perfect baseball team this season. They are 41 games over .500 and look like the clear favorites to win the NL for a third season in a row. They are calling up star prospects left and right, showing that the great lineup they have can be enhanced by these young stars. They are going nowhere fast, but come playoff time, watch for the Braves and Nationals, who could give them a run for their money.
The moneyline on the Rockies for tonight is set at +285, while it listed at -335 for the Dodgers. The over/under is set at 9.5 runs.
Rockies Look For 60th Win
One more loss for Colorado will clinch a losing record for them after a decent beginning to 2019. They have all the hitters they could ever want or need, but playing 81 games a year in Coors Field is going to make it tough to win too much there. The ball travels differently, and it is a hitter-friendly ballpark. Leads aren’t safe, and the inflated ERAs of all their pitchers serve as another disadvantage for them calling it their own. They have four players with 20+ home runs, and Ryan McMahon remains as a name to watch down the stretch.
Antonio Senzatela is set to make his 21st start of the year Wednesday. He has posted an 8-9 record with a 6.95 ERA in 99 2/3 innings of work. He has struck out 56 batters while walking 48. Not a great year.
Dodgers Try To Keep Rolling
At 41 games over .500 and owners of one of the best home records we have seen in a long time, the Dodgers are looking to keep this thing going. The team is going to be without Chris Taylor and Joc Pederson for this one, but their fill-ins are going to hold it down. Gavin Lux was rated as the No. 9 prospect in baseball, and now the 21-year-old has gone 3-for-9 in his opening two games with the Dodgers. Will Smith has 13 home runs in 38 games. Matt Beaty has 42 RBI and a .293 average in 78 games. Wow.
NL Cy Young candidate Hyun-Jin Ryu will make his 26th start for the Dodgers tonight. He has posted a 12-5 record with a 2.35 ERA in 159 1/3 innings of work. He has struck out 190 batters while walking 28.
