Two struggling basketball teams will meet up Thursday in Detroit. The Brooklyn Nets are set to take on the Detroit Pistons. These two teams have not played since the Nets beat the Pistons the day after Christmas in 2023. That game was 118-112 Brooklyn.
The Nets are 25-37 on the season. They have dropped to 11th in the Eastern Conference standings. After losing to Memphis on Monday, the Nets were able to beat the 76ers on Tuesday. The Nets are 4-6 over their last 10 games.
For Detroit, they have the worst record in the National Basketball Association. Detroit is 9-52 on the season. The Pistons have dropped three straight games, with their most recent on the road at the Heat on Tuesday.
The Brooklyn Nets are -2 over the Pistons. The total is 217.
Nets Looking to Keep Pace
The Brooklyn Nets are looking to keep pace and stay in the race for the 10th and final spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Brooklyn is 11th behind the Hawks and Bulls. The Nets are 9-19 when playing on the road this season. That will need to change in their final 13 road games to get to the postseason.
The Nets have been banged up, with Cam Thomas out, along with Ben Simmons missing time. Mikal Bridges is the leading scorer with 21 points per game. Next for the Nets is Cam Johnson, but he will miss this game with an injury. Dennis Schroder and Nic Claxton are next for Brooklyn.
Next up for Brooklyn is a trip to Charlotte. This is part of the six game, six city road trip. The Nets will head to Cleverland, Orlando, Indianapolis and San Antonio. The next home game for the Nets is on March 19th.
Detroit Pistons Seeking 10th Win
The next win for the Pistons will be their 10th of the season. Amazingly, the Pistons are tied with Washington for the worst record in the National Basketball Association. Detroit is 4-25 when playing at home this season. They are scoring 112.1 points per game, and allowing opponents to score 121.
The Pistons are led in scoring by Cade Cunningham. The former Oklahoma State star has played in 51 games this season. In his last game, he had 23 against Miami. He is averaging just over 22 points per game. Jaden Ivey is next for Detroit, with 15.1 per game.
Detroit is starting a six game home stand with this one. After this, the Pistons will host the Mavericks, Hornets, Raptors, and Heat twice. The next time the Pistons are on the road is March 18th in Boston.
Nets Bounce Pistons
This should be an interesting game. The Nets are not the type of team that can blow anyone out right now. But, when push comes to shove, this game means much more for the Brooklyn Nets than it does for the Detroit Pistons.
