Ognyan Dimov Takes GGPoker's MILLION$ $500K Jackpot

Ognyan Dimov had to make his way up the final table, starting fourth in the standings and below the 60-chip lead by top-ranked Ravid Garbi. Still, the challenge suited the Bulgarian-born poker player.

He successfully walked away with GGPoker’s MILLION$ Championship bracelet with a $508,891 top prize

In an unexpected turn of events, and still with no defined rank among the top poker elite, Dimov brought his total live poker tournament earnings to approximately $2.75 million. This is through 30 appearances and only having made a final table on one occasion

Far from just a simple feat, Dimov proved worthy at the very last stage of GGPoker’s tournament lineup.

Gradual Yet Almost Flawless Performance

Executing a perfect strategy is not just about highlighting the wins along the path and overshadowing any slight rises by quick missteps. That is why Dimov did not mind making it to the final table as the fourth seed and taking a few hits at the beginning of the night.

Perhaps it was two-time Super MILLION$ champion Artur Martirosian’s early exit from the table that shocked most fans. It also left other players, such as Dimov, in the hunt to keep pushing for the prize.

Midway into play at the final table, it appeared as if Joshua McCully was the one with odds in his favor after taking out Lukas “rustyhusky” Hafner with pocket sevens that swept an ace-queen and left the Austrian-born player to settle for a $106,981 payday.

McCully would strike again, eliminating Gytis Lazauninkas, who finished fifth and took home $179,920. Nenad “O O L” Djukic was next, and a pair of nines topped his King-Jack combination. Djukic would finish in the third spot, taking a $302,588 prize.

McCully held a lead of 16,162,268 chips to Dimov’s 9,937,732 chips in the final heads-up battle. However, it took Dimov almost 30 minutes to finish the job.

McCully opened the final hand with 12 big blinds and eight-seven spades; Dimov called with pocket deuces. McCully lost to a devastating two on the river that gave Dimov a set, killing his flopped pair of 8s. McCully won the $392,409 prize as runner-up.

Dimov’s Profile Keeps Building

According to Hendon Mob, Dimov’s earnings now amount to a total of $2,745,441 as the WSOP saw the Bosnian’s true winning potential. Still, $74,366 in earnings at the World Poker Tour are not to be ignored and have summed up the Bosnian player’s potential.

Dimov has continued to build on his profile and earned $50,900 at the $10,000 No-Limit Hold ’em Main Event in the 2021 WSOP back in November, but nothing close to his recent half-million-dollar prize.

Over at the European Poker Tour, Dimov added a total of $1,550,845 in earnings after having reached two final tables and taking one championship. To poker experts, the Bosnia native has gone a long way to improve his game and is a player to watch for in the future
