WSOP Player Of The Year Overview: November 2019

The World Series of Poker Europe is almost completed, as all the major events wrapped up recently. A total of 15 gold bracelets were distributed to the luckiest and most skillful players, and the Player of the Year race is still on, with a couple of changes taking place due to the impact of WSOPE.

Therefore let’s revise the World Series of Poker Player of the Year list once again after another great WSOP tournament in Europe.

First and foremost, don’t expect huge changes, as the No. 1 spot is occupied by the one and only Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu taking the first spot is definitely big news, as he had an outstanding performance at the WSOPE.

On the other hand, this is old news for the Canadian player, as he managed to win the WSOP Player of the Year title twice already, in 2004 and 2013. He is definitely in a good position to add a third title to his resume as well.

Negreanu took the lead last week and is currently sitting at the top, aiming to win another Player of the Year title. Could he do it once again? Will he be able to make it to the top for the third time after six years of waiting? Fans are not united on this issue, as some believe Negreanu is going to go for it, while others don’t think he could do it again.

The WSOP Player of the Year Standings

Negreanu is No. 1 after the official table was published on Nov. 1. At the moment, he has 3,971.54 points. He is leading in the race big time as the second-place player, Robert Campbell, has 3,857.97. Third place is currently occupied by Shaun Deeb, who has 3,710.64 points.

Negreanu was actually below Deeb and Campbell before the World Series of Poker Europe. However, he did an amazing job, and managed to end up in sixth place in Event No. 10: €25,500 Mixed Games Championship. Moreover, he ended up 20th in Event No. 11, which also had a significant impact on his overall WSOP POY score.

One of the major surprises on the list is Anthony Zinno moving to the fourth position, jumping a couple of spots at once. What helped him achieve this was ending up third in the Main Event of the WSOPE. At the moment, Zinno has 3,270.33 points.

The fifth position is currently occupied by Phillip Hui, who has 3,186.17 points. He is followed by Dan Zack (3,126.13) and Dario Sammartino (3,091.03). Kahle Burns is currently eighth with 2,983.37 points, while Dash Dudley sits in ninth place with 2,860,79. Finally, 10th place is occupied by David “ODB” Baker, who has 2,808.51 points.

Who will end up being the Player of the Year in 2019? Can Negreanu do it once again? Only time will tell.
