Maurice Hawkins set another record by winning a 12th World Series of Poker Ring in Cherokee. In other words, that means that Hawkins is now on the top of the list when it comes to the number of rings won in WSOPC events, sharing the same number of rings with Valentin Vornicu. The event where Hawkins managed to make history was Harrah’s Cherokee Event #4: $600 No-Limit Hold’em. He managed to beat the field which was 391 strong and collected a total of $44,287 along with his 12th gold ring.

Hawkins shared with the tournament reporters that the number of rings wasn’t something he was after, but that he was happy for his achievements nevertheless. He said that it was not about being on top as he already held some other records such as most money earned and ‘most everything’ that was related to WSOP Circuit. That is, he saw this as another record, and he is used to setting new records in the prestigious poker competition. What made Maurice Hawkins happy, however, was the fact that his game improved and evolved. He stated that he was looking forward to playing better and bigger things in the future, concluding that it was all about his positivity and ‘good flow’ that made things go in the right direction.
How Maurice Hawkins Become So Successful in WSOPC?
The story of Maurice Hawkins and his relation to World Series of Poker Circuit is a very interesting and exciting one. This poker player managed to cash out 87 times in total in this prestigious tournament and earned a total of $1,668,698 in cashes. This resident of West Palm Beach, Florida has been dominating the world of WSOPC for more than ten years now, having won his first gold ring back in 2008 when he topped a $560 buy-in NLH event which took place at Harrah’s Atlantic City.
The year 2016 was an important one for him as he managed to win four gold rings. He is now tied with Vornicu, who has been on top since May 2018 when he won two events and increased his number of rings won to 12. In other words, these two players are now tied-up, and the one who wins the next WSOPC event will become a single person with the most WSOPC rings ever.
Hawkins’ gold ring before this one was also won in 2018 when he managed to take down a $2,200 event which took place at Harrah’s New Orleans. This happened after he couldn’t win a ring for almost a year, but he eventually returned stronger than ever, and ready to win more rings.
Apart from dominating the WSOPC world, Hawkins also plays other poker tournaments from time to time, having won his first title in Heartland Poker Tour back in August.
