WPT Legends of Poker — Aaron Van Blarcum Wins!

The World Poker Tour Legends of Poker Main Event, which required a $5,000 buy-in, ended on Wednesday in Los Angeles at The Bicycle. And a player named Aaron Van Blarcum managed to top the field of 520 and win a total of $474,390.

Before this event, Blarcum had approximately $75,000 in live cashes, meaning that this was his first six-figure score in a poker tournament. This was also his first appearance in a WPT tournament as well.

He stated that he felt great after the victory. He added that he normally played just cash games and nothing more. In fact, he stated that he attended tournaments regularly, but that he had never actually played them before, so he had decided to give it a shot. Naturally, he concluded that the victory meant he was going to play many more tournaments in the future.

The event, as previously stated, managed to gather 520 entries, which created a prize pool of $2.4 million. Some of the stars that took part in the event did not manage to make it far. Some of the names that signed up to play the Main Event of this WPT included Kitty Kuo, Taylor Black, Brian Altman, and others.

The Final Table Results

There were six players at the final table, and Van Blarcum was not one of the leaders at the start. In fact, he started the final part of the tournament with 40 BBs and was at the bottom when it came to his stack.

Nevertheless, he managed to win a hand over Antonios Roungeris, who went all-in with 24 big blinds and had pocket sevens. But Van Blarcum had pocket jacks and managed to send Roungeris to the rail. Roungeris was the only non-US player at the final table.

After the Greek busted out and won $96,955, the next in line was Jisup Hwang, who ended up in fifth place for $127,165. The next target of Van Blarcum was Vahan Sudzhyan, who tried to bluff his way out but failed as Van Blarcum managed to see that trick through.

Sudzhyuan busted in fourth place and won a total of $168,630, leaving the three best players to compete for the final prize.

The last player to hit the rail before heads-up play began was Jared Griener, who was already short on chips at the beginning of the three-handed play.

The two players who ended up playing heads-up were Gueorgui Gantchev and Van Blarcum. At one point Van Blarcum managed to gain 4-1 chip lead — it took approximately 30 hands to achieve that.

However, Gantchev was not giving up and managed to gain a lead after a while. Nevertheless, Van Blarcum fought bravely and ended up winning the tournament in the end.

With the completion of the Main Event, this World Poker Tour stop came to an end. However, there will be many other stops very soon!
