World College Poker 2021 Championship Slated To Start on July 24

In partnership with PokerStars.net, World College Poker has announced the World College Poker Championship Main Event slated to start on July 24, 2021. The championship is for college students who are 18 years old and above. For the first time, this event will be available to students across the globe.

Students entering the championship have until July 22 to register. Moreover, there is no buy-in, as the tournament is free to play. Innovators for the World College Poker (WCP) created the brand to reach and cultivate an online community of students who loved poker.

PokerStars is one of the largest online poker sites. It is home to some of the most famous poker tournaments, such as the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) and the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).

How the World College of Poker Championship Will Look Like

The world college poker championship will have four stages. During registration, players will be put into six global regions depending on where they will be playing from.

  • July 24, Round One: all registered players will compete in the Round One tournament in their region. These players will eliminate each other down to 50 players in each area. These will move to round two.
  • July 31, Round Two: considering there will be six regions, Round Two will have 300 players. They will play until 45 players remain on the table, moving to the third round.
  • August 7, Round Three: these 45 players will get PokerStars swag bags. They will also play down to six players.
  • Round Four: final table will comprise six players. It might be played live or online. The winner of the tournament will be crowned 2021 World College Main Event Champion. The organizer has to announce more details about round four, the Final Table.

Who Can Join?

Every student is eligible for the World College Poker Championship. If you are 18 years or older, have a valid student ID, and are in university, vocational school, or college anywhere in the world, you can register and play the tournament.

However, players from Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Spain, Italy, and Portugal cannot play the WCP Championship. These state regulations forbid students from participating in online poker tournaments.

Prizes

Several prizes are up for grabs. First, the winner will get the WCP title. They will also get a European Poker Tour package valued at €8,000 and get an engraved PokerStars trophy. Each of the final table finalists will also get a custom gaming chair.

The Solve for Why Academy will also award the second place holder of the championship with a trip to Las Vegas, round-trip airfare, and a seat at the academy. Solve for Why Academy is a training company that comprehensively trains to play poker. The academy was started by a high-stakes player, Matt Berkey.

Matt’s love for poker is evident. He commented that he wished there was a program similar to WCP when he was younger. He said he would have given anything to play poker against his peers in college.

PLO Quick Pro is also awarding prizes. PLO is a Pot-limit Omaha training website. The site is awarding vacation packages to the first three finishers and another hotel package for the six final table finalists. Some of these players will also get personalized poker lessons from either Alex Fitzgerald or Jonathan Little. All the details about the WCP Championship are available on the WCP official page.
