March 30 was reserved for the penultimate event that was part of the WSOP.com Online Super Circuit Series poker festival. It is one of the most popular online tourneys presented by the World Series of Poker.
Its full name is Event #17: $30,000 GTD NLH Knockout Freezeout. All players who wanted to take part in it had to pay a buy-in price of $300. A total of 435 entries were recorded, making the final prize pool almost four times higher than the original guaranteed prizes.
The regular prize pool offered $79,170, but there was also the bounty prize pool that offered $43,500 up for grabs. Therefore, the total amount of money that was in the game was $122,670. Each knockout was $100, and the top 75 players got paid from the regular pool, with the minimum prize being $253.
The player who managed to win the first prize, along with most money, was Valentyn Shabelnyk, also known as “tiktakonelov.” He managed to win a total of $19,396 in addition to $750 in bounties.
What’s more important than the monetary prize was a gold ring that he received for his effort, which is one of the biggest accolades a poker player can get.
Some of the players who made it to the money list but failed to make it to the final table include Nicolas Zolofra (aka “Zskrrrrt”), Paul Dewald (aka “ToTheMoon), John Forlenza (aka “Slapshot1805”), Lucas Gatti (aka “coolhandluke”), and Anthony Falange (aka “Planetjfz”).
The Final Table Results — Who Made It to the Very End?
The final table was pretty exciting, as it saw nine best tables taking their online seats, with all of them having the same goal — to win the event. However, Longsheng “Allentan” Tan had to say goodbye to the rest of the group, losing all chips as a ninth-placed player, and earning a total of $1,147 for his effort. He was active in knocking out opponents and ended up with a $1,000 in bounties.
The next one to hit the rail was Irfan “DieselEngine” Azhar, who won $1,741 and a bounty of $500. Soon after that, it was Jonathan “Art.Vandelay” Dokler, who had to leave the game with $2,612 in his pocket. Yet, Dokler was one of the players who made the most money on bounties, earning a total of $1,400 on top of his prize.
Timothy “Tgl702” Glass soon followed with a total of $3,383 earned from the prize pool and $400 in bounties. He was followed by David “dehhhh” Coleman for $4,275 and $400 in bounties.
Sebastian “Messi10” Choi ended up fourth with $5,066 + $800 on bounties, and Edward “Eddiegood598” Espino hit the rail after him with $6,650 + $400.
The heads up was between the poker legend Anthony “heheh” Zinno and “tiktakonelov.” However, Zinno had to settle for second place, winning $10,885 + $700.
