TGT Poker Room Reveals Intention To Host All Mixed Games Series in June

One of the best poker rooms in Florida has revealed its plan to offer a different tournament than what we are used to. TGT Poker & Racebook is a poker room with 14 tables, sitting in Tampa, Florida. The company has decided to try a new different approach in regards to poker tournaments.

It will host an all-mixed games tournament series starting from June 1 through 5th, 2021. The operator hopes that the new series will spice up competition at poker tables on the premises.

How the Series Will Roll Out

In an interesting way, TGT Poker & Racetrack will deviate from the usual provision of poker tournament formats. In traditional tournaments, formats including Omaha and No-Limit Hold ‘Em take the course.

However, TGT intends for players to battle it out in eight events comprising a mixed-games plan. The June 1-5 event will be the first the operator hosts an all-mixed games series at TGT Poker & Racetrack venue.

The Tampa Mixed Games Poker Series will begin with a Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) and PLO8 events on June 1. Other formats scheduled for the day include HORSE, Dealer’s Choice, and mixed triple-draw. These are not offered in conventional poker festivals.

On the last day, the sequence will end with a Tampa Poker Players Mixed Games Championship. The event resembles the World Series of Poker (WSOP)’s $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

However, there will be a slight difference. For starters, the eight-game mix tournament will have a lower buy-in as compared to WSOP’s. Essentially, players will book a seat with a buy-in of $500, which comes with a guaranteed prize pool of $15000.

Another change you can expect is that there will be No Limit Hold ’em element in the event. The organizer has removed the aspect based on feedback from players. Actually, players do not enjoy the format.

The poker room’s manager, Jacob “JD” Mast, confirmed that the no limit hold’em was already added in the eight-game mix event. He insisted that adding a fixed-limit segment would be, thus, redundant.

Jacob also reconfirmed that most players at TGT did not like playing the format. So instead, the manager decided to replace No-Limit Hold ’em with a lowball draw format, referred to as A-to-5. However, those who love Limit Hold ’em were also considered. The poker room will feature the format in the HORSE event.

Moreover, the Main Event will feature the same eight-game format from the start to the end of the match. Usually, the gameplay changes. For example, the WSOP Poker Player Championship (PPC) gameplay changes to No-Limit Hold ’em at the final table.

Trying Out a Different Concept

TGT Poker trying all mixed games is a brave move. Essentially, most poker tournament organizers avoid the concept as it does not appeal to many players.

However, the poker room’s manager with his team decided to try new gameplay for several reasons. For starters, the poker room wants to find whether the tournament will be a success. If it is, it will be the first of the many similar contests in the future.
