Team PokerStars Pros Take Down Full Tilt Team

The Team PokerStars and The Professionals online poker matchup finally took place over the weekend and it was Team PokerStars who came out victorious. The entire challenge started with FTP pro Gus Hansen tweeting PokerStars Daniel Negreanu with a tease about how he took a large pot from Negreanu back in 2006. The pros continued to exchange Tweets until The Professionals vs. Team PokerStars was born.

Hansen and Negreanu built their teams and the $150,000 Heads Up Challenge would take place during the European Poker Tour London. The players would compete online during the EPT event. The first match would see Bertrand Grospellier take on Victor Blom. Next up was Isaac Haxton and Tom Dwan and finally, Negreanu would take on Hansen. Both Grospellier and Negreanu were able to win their heads-up matches 3-0 while Haxton won his match 2 to 1.

The PokerStars team was able to sweep the event 3-0 and Negreanu commented on the challenge results by stating: “I did predict a 3-0 sweep! Really proud of my team, and preparing for the match was a great bonding and learning experience. The whole team contributed, even those that didn’t play, including Vanessa Selbst, Eugene Katchalov and Jason Mercier. I’m really proud of how prepared Team PokerStars was.”

PokerStars reported that the FTP pros are already thinking about a rematch. According to the PokerStars blog, Dwan would be up for a rematch if it did not take place after a flight from a ‘far-flung time-zone’ and ‘for obvious reasons’, all three PokerStars pros would be up for the challenge.  It will be interesting to see if the teams challenge each other again and if Negreanu and the fellow PokerStars pros will be able to take the challenge once again. No matter who wins, it is always fun to see the back and forth ribbing between participating players!
