For the last couple of weeks, all eyes were on the World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 Main Event, especially during the past weekend when the international winner was decided. However, what many poker lovers may have missed is the Super Circuit Series, which also took place on WSOP.com and offered a total of 18 ring events that span over 18 days.
The series started on November 27 and concluded officially on December 14. Over $1 million was available in guaranteed prizes, and a total of 10,051 entrants were recorded. The total prize money that was distributed to the players, in the end, was $3,587,143. On top of that, 18 players had an opportunity to receive a gold ring, one of the highest accolades in the world of poker.
Winner Overview
Some of the winners that managed to snatch a gold ring were high-profile players, such as the popular WPT commentator Tony Dunst, who’s known under the nickname “Panoramic.”
Dunst enrolled in Event #12: $100,000 GTD NLH Big $500, where he landed his first gold ring. He managed to beat the field of 509 entries and receive the prize of $44,166 for his effort. Dunst is an active WSOP player who managed to win second gold bracelets. He actually won his latest gold bracelet in 2020, when he topped the WSOP.com Event #21: $777 NLH 6-Handed and landed a total of $168.342.
Another popular player that managed to win a gold ring was Ryan “GoFeltaFish” Eriquezzo. He was known in the poker world for winning the Global Casino Championship two times. Eriquezzo took part in Event #5: $100,000 High Roller, where he managed to outlast a 262-entry field and win a total of $50,992. The buy in for this event was $1,000, and that was certainly a wise investment by Eriquezzo.
The popular poker player actually has plenty of experience in playing ring events, as he won the fifth ring by taking down Event #5.
Alex “rip_neiko” Rocha was another popular player who managed to secure the most important WSOP Super Circuit Series trophy. Rocha took part in Event #11: $50,000 NLHE Freezeout, where he won a total of $23,690. That was his third gold ring, which he finally landed after almost four years before his last one.
The most important event of the series was the $525 buy in Main Event that offered $200,000 in guaranteed prizes. It attracted a total of 578 unique players who recorded 353 rebuys, resulting in 931 entries. The final prize pool for this competition was $465,000, and the player who managed to emerge on top was Tyler “muchultra” Cornell, who won a total of $70,243, landing his first gold ring.
The final event of the tournament was Event #18: $100,000 NLH Grand Finale High Roller, which required the buy-in of $1,000 and attracted 378 entries. Eli “Sketchem” Mirlis won it, winning a total of $69,310.
