Ronnie Bardah defeated the odds to win his first World Series of Poker bracelet. The poker player was sitting last in chips by the end of day 2 but would come back to win Event #40 of the 2012 WSOP. The tournament had a buy-in of $2,500 and was a Limit Hold’em Six-handed event.
The tournament saw 302 players register to compete and after three days, the tournament was down to seven players, who made their way to the feature stage at the Pavilion Room. By this time, Bardah was second in chips and making his stance to try and win the event. Bardah would stay second in chips for some time as Vincent Gironda would not relinquish the lead, which he had held after both day one and day two of play.
It would take a little less than an hour for the first player to fall. Terrence Chan would be the first to go from the feature table at the hands of Bardah, who would take the chip lead from Gironda. Players would continue to fall by the way side in this order: Hans Minocha, Sorel Mizzi, Brent Wheeler and finally Vincent Gironda to leave Marco Johnson and Bardah in final table play.
Johnson would hold a slight chip lead once final table play began but Bardah would take little time earning the lead back. on the final hand, Johnson would open with a raise on the button and Bardah would three bet. Johnson would call and the flop would fall 5-2-2.
Bardah would bet again and Johnson would call. Bardah would bet yet again after an Ace fell on the turn and Johnson would raise. Bardah re-raised and Johnson would call all-in. Johnson held J-7 while Bardah held A-4. Johnson was chasing a flush and Bardah would have the advantage. The river was an Ace, giving Bardah the win and his first World Series of Poker bracelet.
