Rivers Casino Philadelphia Plans to Build a Hotel in Fishtown

Rush Street Gaming owns and runs Rivers Casino Philadelphia. The gaming operator announced on July 12 that it will construct a 62-suite deluxe boutique hotel within The Battery. The lifestyle campus is located on Beach Street, Fishtown.

What Is the Hotel’s Design?

The gaming operator will call its new casino hotel Riversuites. It will develop it focusing on offering an exceptional customer experience. The hotel will cover four special floors of existing The Battery’s reuse venue thus making it a unique waterfront hotel in Philadelphia.

Rivers Casino might start receiving reservations for its hotel this fall. Its guest suites are unusually large as each covers 854 square feet on average. Yet, some suites have 2,266 square feet of floor space.

Visitors can select one-, two- or three-bedroom suites and each of them will have a functional kitchen. Some of the hotel’s apartment-style suites will feature split-level lofts or terraces. Their living rooms and kitchens will be below the bedrooms.

Eric Althaus, Rivers Casino Portsmouth’s General Manager, revealed that guests from other towns and VIPs have shown interest in overnight stays. Thus, the casino has incorporated a penthouse-style choice for them.

The Delaware River has a stunning view beyond the Ben Franklin Bridge, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey shores. Yet, guests at the hotel will view Fishtown’s beauty since it is one of the best neighborhoods in Philadelphia.

It has walkable streets, a vibrant culture, and many culinary offers. Thus, visitors can easily access retail stores, galleries, distilleries, cafes, and restaurants.

Tim Drehkoff, Rush Street Gaming, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s CEO stated that they have always aspired to add a hotel in Fishtown. The Battery’s location enabled them to link a parcel in the city. Even so, the casino hotel will offer many traditional perks like an indoor basketball court, a pool table, co-working venues, and lobbying spaces.

More Details About The Battery’s Upgrade

John Windrim, a renowned Philadelphia architect designed The Battery in a Beaux-Arts classical style. Some of his other works are the Provost’s Residence, the Philadelphia Municipal Court, and the Franklin Institute.

The 11-acre Delaware Power Station initially served as the PECO power plant early in the 20th century before being renamed Beach Street. It supplied a large section of Philadelphia with electricity in the 1950s and its eight 167-foot-tall chimneys are historic.

Lubert-Adler Real Estate Funds is leading the property’s ongoing $154 million upgrade. Its current phase includes 173 apartments, 100,000 square feet of events venue, and 135,000 square meters of offices.

Leonard Klehr, Lubert-Adler’s Vice Chairman stated that they saw an opportunity to create a home for commercial enterprises and the local community in the defunct power plant. The Penn Treaty Park’s way links the Delaware Riverwalk, The Battery, and the waterfront facility. Moreover, the casino will offer unlimited valet parking, security, and a free shuttle.
