Revolution Gaming Network Slashes Tournament Schedule

Lock Poker More controversy has hit the Revolution Gaming Network.  The network has now drastically reduced the number of multi-table tournaments offered on the network.  In response to this, Lock Poker has created an exclusive tournament schedule.  These tournaments are not available on any other Revolution Gaming skins.

Every multi-table tournament on Revolution Gaming offers a guaranteed prize pool.  If a tournament does not meet the guaranteed prize pool then the burden of the overlay is shared by all skins.

According to Shane Bridges, a representative of Lock Poker, smaller skins on the network have been unable to carry some of the overlay burden on the network.  This was the reason, according to Bridges, as to why Lock Poker now offers exclusive multi-table tournaments.

This way their players are not affected by this move.  These Lock Poker exclusive tournaments offer a smaller guaranteed prize pool than the shared events did.  The Sunday tournament schedule does not appear to be affected by this move.

This has drawn some anger from network players.  Some players do not believe that skins paying overlay is the issue at all, though no skin has publicly commented on the situation besides Lock Poker.  Players state that if this is the real reason then the network should just lower the advertised prize pool for tournaments instead of removing them from the schedule.

Part of the reason that players have been unable to trust this response is because of Lock Poker’s past actions.  These include slow payouts, dodging questions about unpopular Lock Poker decisions, slow payouts to players and segregated player pools.

Tournament Segregation Could Relate to Cash Game Segregation

Revolution Gaming has introduced two player segregation models this year.  The first model removed Lock Poker’s higher limit limits from the remainder of the network.  These tables could only be accessed by Lock Poker players.  This drained liquidity from the network as cash game selection dried up at the affected limits.

The network then introduced Fair Play Technology.  This has caused most winning players to lose access to the main player pool on the network.  Revolution Gaming traffic is now down 30% for in 2013 when these controversial player segregation policies were first put in place.

The traffic at Bodog/Bovada is now double that of Revolution Gaming.  Revolution Gaming was the largest US-facing network when 2013 started but is now barely holding second place in the US online poker market.

Shane said the following, in response to me, alluding quite clearly to Intertops:

Intertops has made 3 responses in the 2+2 thread where all of this debate is taking place after I informed them that Shane Bridges was attempting to impugn their reputation.
