PokerStars Naysayers At It Again In California

CaliforniaOnline poker efforts in the state of California seem to be taking one step forward then two steps back. From tribal groups to card rooms and race tracks, each group makes an effort and then pulls back to the same issues the state has had from the very beginning, either bad actor clauses or allowing race tracks to offer online poker gaming. Just recently, history was made in the state with AB 431 moving through after a committee vote. This would of course, equal one step forward. However, now moving two steps back, a particular tribal group has now launched a radio advertisement campaign with negative connotations of PokerStars, an interested party in the online poker industry of the state.

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians have launched a new advertisement campaign on the radio that holds both PokerStars and Amaya Gaming in a negative light. This latest development was first discovered by OnlinePokerReport and will do nothing to help the state move forward with passing legislation to regulate online poker.

From the perspective of those who are in support of race track inclusion and PokerStars in California iPoker, the tribe as well as those with similar feelings on the subject, are considered to be obstructing efforts to pass online poker legislation within the state.

Points covered in the advertisement include PokerStars settlement with the Department of Justice in the US as well as the AMF inquiry of trading at Amaya during the acquisition of PokerStars by the company last year. In the end, the advertisement asks listeners to contact representatives of the state to show how they are opposed to PokerStars being able to participate in online poker.

The constant back and forth between everyone who may or may not be involved in online poker is only hurting the efforts to see legislation passed within the state. If no consensus or compromise can be made, it may be a very long time before California will be able to move forward with any legislation in regards to regulation of online poker gaming.
