Poker Pro Suspended Indefinitely by PokerStars

leo-fernandezPokerStars already has the reputation of being the best online poker site in the world, with wide-ranging influence to novice and professionals alike.  Part of that influence comes from having only the best ambassadors to the game as employees of the company. The most notable of these is of course Daniel Negreanu, with the rest of “Team Pokerstars” being represented by dozens upon dozens of players from countries all around the world.

The reputation of Pokerstars’ elite stable of players will no doubt come under fire this week after it was recently reported by several outlets that the online poker site has suspended a widely-known international member of Team PokerStars. According to these reports, Argentinian poker pro Leo Fernandez has been suspended from his position on the PokerStars team.

Just yesterday, reports began to surface that Fernandez was suspended from Team PokerStars for an “indefinite period of time.”  There has yet to be any official information reported yet in this case but according to poker pro Dan Colman he was suspended for sharing his account with another player during real money games.

Dan Colman reported in a recent interview at HUSNG.com that he is about 100% sure as to why Fernandez was suspended. Colman states that Fabrizio Gonzalez played online via Fernandez’ account. Gonzalez is a top player from Uruguay but is not allowed to play at PokerStars due to being locked out.

Fernandez was seen to play differently recently and lost a great deal of money which apparently raised suspicion. So now, the rumor making its way around the poker community is that Gonzalez was the player competing online under Fernandez’ account.

PokerStars LogoOne report included a statement from PokerStars but is translated from Portuguese to English so some wording may be lost in translation. The statement, which was reported at Superpoker.com, states that Leo has ‘violated Terms and Conditions’ at PokerStars and the pro will be treated like any other player who violated terms.

PokerStars will be fair in their decision despite the fact that the player in question is a Team PokerStars Pro. It will be interesting to see if PokerStars comes forward with an official response to the rumors that are circulating in this case or if Fernandez will come forward with what actually went down.
