This record was just broke on November 25th by Russian online player ‘innerpsy’. ‘innerpsy’ played a little over 40,000 hands while the newest record breaker ‘ChicagoJoey’ played over 50,000 hands in a twenty four hour period.
‘ChicagoJoey’ is a TwoPlusTwo forum poster who plays online under the name ‘joeingram1’. He announced he was going to try to break the record on November 29th via the forums. In his thread, ‘ChicagoJoey’ stated he would complete 50,000 hands within a twenty four hour period. He would also have to show a profit for the playing session or he would lose all of his side bets. The only hands counted toward the record would be from No Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Hold’em with stakes of $.10/$.25.
The marathon session would also be broadcast via web cam so everyone could see that ‘ChicagoJoey’ was continually playing the game. ‘ChicagoJoey’ began his challenge this past Monday at just past noon. In the beginning it did not look good for the poker player but by 5,000 hands he was in the black and continued to play well from that point.
After twelve hours of play, the poker player had earned a profit of $375 and had played just under 30,000 hands. It was after just twenty hours and two minutes of play that ‘ChicagoJoey’ broke the 50,000 hand mark. At this time he was ahead by $850.35 and would continue to play for 470 hands. In the end ‘ChicagoJoey’ had earned just over $800 in just over twenty one hours of play.
