Online Poker Championship Now Underway

It feels like we can’t go a week without a new online poker tournament announcement, and that was the case this week as well. PokerNews and 888poker are bringing the Online Poker Championship to players later this month in an event that took plenty of planning.

This event will be open to customers of 888poker, and it will be backed by support and coverage from PokerNews. There will be at least $1 million in cash prizes, and the biggest winner will also be walking away with a nice trophy.

This is not going to be a series that is played with just one format as the two companies wanted to bring something unique to online poker players. Buy-ins for the tournaments are going to start as low as $11, and the largest pool will be $300,000.

Things will get going right away on February 25th as there are five events set to take place on that day. That is also when the two main events will kick off, but those aren’t going to wrap up until the calendar flips to March.

A Look at the Main Events

Anytime that a new poker series is launched, players tend to focus on the biggest events that are available. When it comes to the Online Poker Championship, those are going to come in the form of mystery bounty events.

One is a mini main event as the buy-in for that tournament is just $25,000, but players can still win a share of $50,000. That could be a nice warmup for someone that wants to get into the actual main event, but it’s going to cost more to join.

The actual main event has a buy-in of $215, and it’s going to be the tournament that is followed by PokerNews. This action can also be live streamed, and everyone will be competing for a share of $300,000.

Some of the best poker players in the world are expected to compete, but this is not open to everyone. With how this format is set up, only the elite poker888 customers will be joining the main mystery bounty.

Not All About Competition

Even though this is called the Online Poker Championship, there was much more to this announcement that 888poker players might be interested in. There are going to be a number of prizes and giveaways throughout the event, and some of the contests are open to anyone.

Since PokerNews is going to be following along with the action, it wants to generate more excitement by rewarding the followers. Some of the biggest fans will even receive a special mention on the top social pages of the company.

All of the 888poker tournaments can now be found on the PokerNews website, and winners are going to be updated as the action unfolds. This is not going to be the largest online poker tournament, but it is going to bring something new.
