The state of New Jersey may be one of only three states that offers online gaming in the United States, a great accomplishment; but the state is also the last to offer some form of gaming outside their borders. Nevada and Delaware began to work together some time ago, sharing player pools for online poker game play. New Jersey was invited to take part, but as of yet, has not moved forward to offer gaming by working with these states.
However, it seems the state may be taking small strides to move outside their borders. Last week, the Division of Gaming Enforcement in New Jersey approved a deal between Caesars Interactive Entertainment and SG Interactive. Caesars Interactive Entertainment will now be hosting online gambling content for the state lottery of Delaware in Atlantic City.
The agreement is between SG Interactive and Caesars Interactive Entertainment. As part of Scientific Games, SG Interactive will provide gaming content to players in Delaware via the servers located in the data center of Caesars in Atlantic City. Players in Delaware will be the only individuals able to access the gaming options.
David Rebuck is the Director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement who stated that the new arrangement exemplifies a collaborative effort between several groups including the Delaware Lottery, Scientific Games, Caesars Interactive Entertainment and the Division of Gaming Enforcement in New Jersey.
It was last Monday that the deal actually went live but it was not announced until Thursday to give the companies plenty of time to see how the operations would take place. This is the first operation of this kind to take place between states in regards to online gambling.
We shall now see if New Jersey will move even further and partner with Delaware, Nevada or both to offer online poker gaming. In the past, it was reported that officials in New Jersey were considering this option, so only time will tell if the state moves forward with interstate gaming.
