Online poker has been available since mid-2013 in the state of Nevada, with three poker sites offering premium online poker cash gaming and tournament options. Players are only allowed to enjoy the gaming options online if located physically in the state and despite the launching hype, the revenues have not been as large as operators would have hoped. However, for the month of June, the state saw their best numbers ever, earning over $1 million in revenues.
According to a recent report at CardPlayer, the state earned $1.037 million for the month of June when it comes to online poker revenues. This is the most that Nevada online poker sites have been able to earn since starting last year. It is believed that the large number of revenues was created in part by the World Series of Poker taking place.
The WSOP is a popular annual event and this year, players participating had the opportunity to play online at the Rio as well as from anywhere in the state. As players attended the series, more signups for the online poker sites as well as participation took place. The WSOP made it easy for players to participate in online gaming which seems to have an had an impact on the online gaming market in the state.
For the month of May, the three poker websites in Nevada were able to earn just over $860,000, which is an increase of over $150,000 in revenues in just one month’s time. It will be interesting to see if the numbers will continue to stay above the $1 million mark for July and months onward. The state should see a nice increase in revenues as well once interstate gaming with Delaware begins, which is expected to take place soon. With the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement, both states will be able to work together to combine player pools for a larger player base.
