Michael Moncek is excelling at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) of late. He has won two bracelets and received three six-figure payouts since the 2022 WSOP. The player recently won $534,499 in the 2023 WSOP $5,000 no-limit Hold’em and pot-limit Omaha mixed tournament after beating 567 opponents.
Moncek won his second WSOP gold bracelet. He said in a PokerGO livestream interview that he values the victory and is determined to win the Player of the Year award.
Reports state that Moncek has over $1.4 million in lifetime poker earnings and got $1.2 million of this from WSOP tournaments. He amassed 1,680 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points that improved his position to 82nd in the 2023 POY race.
The tournament’s 568 entrants formed a $2,612,800 and it lasted for two days. Fernando “JNandez” Habegger had the stack lead as only 48 players remained late on Day 1. Yet, he had dropped to the middle of the chip standings when the finalists set the final table.

What Transpired at the Final Table?
Michael Banducci was the stack lead when the final table was set and Moncek was in third place. Ferenc Deak’s top set lost to Christian Harder’s flopped straight, hence finishing eighth.
Kristen Foxen followed Deak in seventh place after losing her remaining stack to two rivals in preflop. Banducci won the pot using eights and busted her. Moncek busted his first opponent after his pocket jacks won a preflop race in NLH against Tyler Brown’s K-Q sending them packing in sixth place.
Harder’s run ended in fifth place after their Q-9 suited lost to Alex Livingston’s A-8. He won $124,266 and increased his recorded poker event cashes to over $5 million.
Banducci’s A-K suited lost to Habegger’s pocket eights hence preventing him from linking to the board and leaving the table in the fourth position. Statistics show he has over $1.5 million in poker career earnings.
Livingston used A-4 suited to make an all-in call against Moncek’s small-blind shove, which he made with Q-7 suited. Livingston finished third with $235,062, earning Moncek the chip lead.
Even so, Habegger doubled up fast and reduced his chip gap with Moncek after his pocket jacks beat his opponent’s A-10 suited. The latter doubled in PLO after a short while.
The tournament’s final hand had four-card action as Moncek used KDiamond SuitJClub Suit10Spade Suit4Diamond Suit to make a button raise while Habegger used AClub Suit9Heart Suit3Club Suit3Diamond Suit to make a five big blind three-bet shove.
Moncek called before the board ran out KClub SuitJSpade Suit5Spade Suit10Diamond SuitKHeart Suit, earning the pot as Habegger finished second with $330,344.
